The great freedom and majestic mountain scenery of Mariazeller country can conquer in the saddle. This applies not only for the landscape, the cyclists always rewarded with magnificent views in between. Clearances are here quite real, as if cycling lead in the region to pristine places of power.

The grand tour of the region is the Traisental bike trail (Traisental Radweg) from St. Pölten over the picturesque Traisental to Mariazell (length 111km).

Or explore the romantically situated Mariazellerland on mountain bike. The Romantic Tour takes you past lakes and deep forests on high mountains and rushing streams. Beautiful places like the Erlaufsee or portions as those by the Walster on the track (length 47,3km). 

The Mariazeller Bürgeralpe can also be climbed with the mountain bike: The track is about 5.4 km long and has a height difference of about 466 meters. It is just as suitable for amateurs as an excursion, and professionals as a training unit.

The region is an ideal starting point for a car-free cycling holiday in Upper Styria. Besides the popular Traisental Cycle Path, which leads from St. Pölten or Mariazell through impressive natural and cultural landscapes, the new Upper Styria Cycle Pilgrimage Route also runs through the region. Another option for exploring Styria by bike from Mariazell is the route over the Lahnsattel Pass to Mürzzuschlag and then along the Mürztal Cycle Path to Frein an der Mürz (approx. 104 km). Both routes are excellently connected to the public transport network and easily accessible by the Mariazell Railway. This allows you to perfectly combine cycling enjoyment, sustainable mobility, and unforgettable nature experiences.
